Crispy Air-Fried Jalapeño Poppers

  • Jalapeño peppers: Fresh is best, but pickled jalapeños work too.
  • Cream cheese: Softened to room temperature.
  • Cheddar cheese: Use mature/sharp cheddar for bold flavor.
  • Crispy bacon: Cooked until crisp (air fryer works perfectly).
  • Chives: Can substitute with parsley, basil, or oregano.
  • Spices: A mix of salt, black pepper, and garlic powder for seasoning.
  • Flour
  • Eggs (lightly beaten)
  • Bread crumbs (seasoned preferred)

Shortcut: Skip full breading by simply pressing seasoned breadcrumbs over the cheese filling before air frying.

1. Prep the Peppers
Slice each jalapeño in half lengthwise and scoop out the seeds and membranes. Set aside.

2. Mix the Filling
In a medium bowl, combine cream cheese, crispy chopped bacon, chives, and grated cheddar cheese.
Season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder, then stir until creamy and well combined.

3. Fill & Coat
Using a teaspoon, fill each jalapeño half with the cheese mixture.
Dip each one into flour, then beaten egg, and finally breadcrumbs for a crunchy coating.

4. Air Fry to Perfection
Arrange the poppers in a single layer in your air fryer basket.
Lightly spray with oil and air fry at 400°F/205°C for 10 minutes until golden and crisp.

5. Serve Hot
Remove from the basket, cool slightly, and serve with your favorite ranch or creamy dip.

Tip: For an extra flavour punch, drizzle a little honey or hot sauce over the poppers before serving!
