  • 2¼ tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1½ cups warm water (110°F/45°C)
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 3–3½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp olive oil (plus more for greasing)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp garlic powder (optional, for extra flavour)
  • Activate the yeast:
In a small bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Stir gently and let sit for 5–10 minutes until the mixture becomes frothy.

    Make the dough:
In a large mixing bowl, combine 3 cups of flour and salt. Make a well in the centre and pour in the yeast mixture and olive oil. Stir with a spoon until it forms a shaggy dough.

    Knead the dough:
Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for about 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Add more flour a little at a time if the dough is too sticky.

    Let the dough rise:
Lightly oil a clean bowl and place the dough inside. Cover with a clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap and let it rise for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

    Preheat the oven:
Preheat your oven to 220°C (425°F) with a pizza stone or baking sheet inside.

    Shape the dough:
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into two portions (for two medium pizzas). Roll out each portion on a floured surface to your desired thickness, adding flour as needed to prevent sticking.

    Assemble the pizza:
Top your dough with sauce, cheese, and toppings of your choice. Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.

    Serve:
Remove from the oven, slice, and enjoy your homemade pizza!
