Spicy Air Fryer Shrimp

  • Shrimp/prawns (frozen or fresh; thaw, peel and devein if frozen)
  • Olive oil or avocado oil
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp lemon pepper
  • 1–2 tsp salt
  • Fresh lemon or lime juice
  • 2–3 Tbsp butter
  • 1–2 fresh garlic cloves, minced
  • 1–2 Tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • ¼ cup heavy cream or whipping cream
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

1. Season the Shrimp:

  • Place the shrimp in a large bowl.
  • Drizzle with olive oil and lemon/lime juice.
  • Sprinkle over smoked paprika, garlic powder, lemon pepper, and salt.
  • Toss to coat evenly.

2. Air Fry the Shrimp:

  • Transfer shrimp to a single layer in the air fryer basket. Cook in batches if necessary.
  • Air fry at 200°C / 400°F for 5–6 minutes, depending on shrimp size, until golden and cooked through.

3. Make the Garlic Butter Sauce:

  • While the shrimp cooks, melt butter in a small saucepan.
  • Add minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  • Stir in lemon juice and cream.
  • Season with salt and black pepper and simmer for 5 minutes.

4. Serve:

  • Plate the shrimp and pour over the garlic butter sauce.
Tips:
  • Cooking time depends on shrimp size. Large shrimp: 5–6 minutes at 200°C.
  • High temperature ensures shrimp cooks quickly without becoming tough.
  • Serve immediately with rice, pasta, or fresh salad.
