Ingredients

For the Meat Sauce:

  • 500g beef mince
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1 can chopped tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tsp mixed herbs
  • Salt & pepper
  • 1 tbsp oil

For the Layers:

  • 8–10 lasagna sheets
  • 2 cups grated cheese

For the White Sauce:

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • Salt & pepper

Make the Meat Sauce

Heat oil in a pan and sauté onion until soft. Add garlic and mince, cooking until browned.
Stir in tomatoes, tomato paste, herbs, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 15–20 minutes until thickened.

Make the White Sauce
Melt butter in a saucepan. Stir in flour and cook for 1 minute.
Gradually whisk in milk until smooth. Simmer until thickened and season with salt and pepper.

Assemble the Lasagna
Spread a little meat sauce in the bottom of a baking dish. Layer lasagna sheets, meat sauce, white sauce, and cheese.
Repeat layers until all ingredients are used. Finish with white sauce and a generous layer of cheese.

Bake
Cover with foil and bake at 180°C for 30 minutes.
Remove foil and bake for a further 10–15 minutes until golden and bubbly.

Serve

Allow to rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
