  • 4 slices bacon
  • 2 soft rolls or burger buns (preferably freshly baked)
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise (optional)
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard (optional)
  • Fresh lettuce or arugula (optional)
  • Tomato slices (optional)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Cook the bacon:
Heat a frying pan over medium heat and cook the bacon slices until crispy, about 3–4 minutes on each side. Remove from the pan and drain on a paper towel.

    Prepare the rolls:
While the bacon is cooking, cut the rolls or buns in half. If you like, lightly toast the cut sides of the rolls in the pan or oven for a few minutes until golden.

    Assemble the roll:
Spread mayonnaise and Dijon mustard (if using) on the inside of the rolls. Layer the cooked bacon on the bottom half of the rolls. Add fresh lettuce or arugula and a few slices of tomato if desired.

    Serve:
Top with the other half of the roll and serve immediately while the bacon is warm and crispy.
