
Make the dough:
In a large bowl, combine flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. In a separate bowl, whisk together warm milk, melted butter, and egg. Pour wet ingredients into dry and mix until a dough forms. Knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Let it rise:
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
Prepare the swirl:
Mix the sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl. Roll out the dough on a floured surface into a rectangle. Spread with softened butter and sprinkle with the cinnamon sugar.
Roll and shape:
Roll the dough up tightly from the short end, pinching the seam to seal. Place seam-side down into a greased loaf tin.
Second rise:
Cover and let rise for another 20–30 minutes until puffy.
Bake the bread:
Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Bake the bread for 35–40 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through. If the top browns too quickly, loosely cover with foil.
Cool and serve:
Let the bread cool in the tin for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack. Slice and enjoy warm with butter!
